On May 16, the two people’s committees launched the construction of Quang Thanh bridge over Van Uc river to connect An Lao district of Hai Phong port city with Thanh Ha district of Hai Duong province, and Dinh bridge over Kinh Thay river to connect Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong) with Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong).

Quang Thanh bridge is built with total investment of 398.6 billion VND (17.1 million USD), including 396 billion VND sourced from Hai Phong budget, the remainder from Hai Duong budget. The construction time is about 15 months.

Meanwhile, Dinh bridge has total investment of 269.4 billion VND, including 256.5 billion VND from Hai Phong budget, and the remainder from Hai Duong. The construction time is 12 months.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Secretary of Hai Duong Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duong Thai, described the building of Quang Thanh and Dinh bridges as vivid illustration of the sound cooperation between the two localities.

Once completed, the two bridges will directly connect Thanh Ha and An Lao district, Kinh Mon town and Thuy Ngan district. They are potential areas for development but face difficulties in transport connectivity. The building of the two bridges will open up huge opportunities for the two localities to increase exchanges for development.

Chairman Nguyen Duong Thai said Hai Duong will direct departments and the People’s Committees of Thanh Ha district and Kinh Mon town to quickly complete investment preparations to build sections linking provincial road 390 to Quang Thanh bridge, and highway 17B to Dinh bridge.

Nguyen Van Tung, Vice Secretary of Hai Phong Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the Politburo issued Resolution 45 dated January 24, 2019, on building and developing the city through 2030, with a vision to 2045, defining Hai Phong as momentum for development in the northern region and the country.

Afterwards, Hai Phong authorities worked with counterparts from Hai Duong and Quang Ninh to discuss building bridges connecting the northern port city with neighbouring localities./.
