Lychee productivity and quality forecast to increase

Updated: 14/05/2022 00:00
This year, the yield of lychees in Hai Duong province is estimated to exceed 60,000 tons, up about 5,000 tons over 2021, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Developmen

The rise in output is the result of farmers' active application of scientific and technical advances to cultivation and growing area expansion following VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. Favorable weather conditions for flower sprout division helped increase the rate of flowering and fruiting.

It is expected that this will be a bumper year for lychees with better appearance and quality than previous years.

The harvest of early lychees is expected to begin on May 15 and peak from May 25 to June 5 with an estimated output of more than 35,000 tons.

The harvest of main crop lychees is expected to begin on June 6 and peak from June 15 to 26 with an estimated output of over 25,000 tons.

There are approximately 8,900 ha of lychees in the province, including 3,250 ha in Thanh Ha district and 3,400 ha in Chi Linh city.
