Chau Khe temple festival in Hai Duong

A spring festival to commemorate ancestors of the traditional jewelry craft was held at Chau Khe village, Thuc Khang commune, Binh Giang district.

On the 18th and 19th days of the first lunar month, a spring festival to commemorate ancestors of the traditional jewelry craft was held at the temple of Chau Khe village, Thuc Khang commune, Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province.

Attending the event were representatives from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, leaders of the Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee of Binh Giang district, leaders of Thuc Khang commune, delegates from many craft villages such as Dinh Cong, Dong Sam, Ke Sat township and Luong Ngoc, as well as tourists and Chau Khe village residents.

 

This year’s festival was meant to mark the 721st death anniversary of Pham Sy, a famous general in the Tran Dynasty who was honoured as the tutelary god of the village, the 821st anniversary of Chu Thong Linh’s establishment of Chu Xa Trang, now Chau Khe village, and the 551st anniversary of the start of silver ingot casting for the King in the village by Le Xuan Tin, a minister of interior under King Le Thanh Tong’s reign (1460-1497), and report to the ancestors the achievements of villagers in the past year.

Chau Khe village still maintains the traditional craft passed down by ancestors

 

Rituals: the festival announcement ceremony took place on the 18th day of the first lunar month with three trays of steamed glutinous rice and six trays of incense, tea, flowers, fruits and food. The incense-offering and procession ceremonies were held on the next day. The festival also featured games such as football, badminton, cockfighting and duet song singing, among others./.
